The exhibition will showcase the design outcomes of the architectural design workshop “Tellus: Inhabiting Excavated Landscapes,” which took place in Bari, Italy, as part of the Architecture Festival “Stone Landscapes: New Stories for the Quarries of the Mediterranean,” promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The workshop, conceived as the culminating event of a national architectural ‘consultation,’ focused on the geographical area of the Puglia Region, known for its diverse Cava Landscapes. This region can be viewed as an extraordinary ‘laboratory’ for experimenting with compensation, care, and valorization practices for the ‘Mediterranean Quarry Landscapes.’

The objective of internationalization is to broaden the discussion about the issues raised by the activities conducted at the national level within a Euro-Mediterranean context. The exhibition and conference will serve as the primary platforms for resonating the Festival activities undertaken in Puglia at an international level, pursuing two distinct objectives: engaging with international cultures of Landscape, Architecture, and Design Project, and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and ‘good practices’ produced by Italian culture on the themes of Stone Architecture.

To achieve these objectives, strategic international partnerships have been established. Noteworthy university institutions in the Iberian Peninsula and the Western Balkans will serve as the hubs for engaging in comparative discussions regarding project cultures and for the exchange of knowledge and techniques.
